On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic.
Soon after, many worldwide went into self-isolation to prevent the spread of this virus. Our program had since temporarily halted as we restructured some of our WIS program elements. As a result, our first scheduled field trip to the Ontario Science Centre for Saturday, March 28, 2020, has been postponed until further notice.
In the best interest of our participants, volunteers, and project staff, while the quarantine period is extended for COVID-19, we intend on shifting our workshops to an online platform. This means that our field trips will be shifted to the end of the year to adhere to health and safety practices.
Nevertheless, we are excited to be able to host our first online zoom workshop on Saturday, April 25, 2020. We expect great discussion, networking opportunities and time to reflect on what it means to be in the field of STEM during these unprecedented times.
